A method for radiation processing of an object includes: accessing a virtual representation of the object including virtual elements; simulating radiation from a radiation source; perturbing the virtual representation to position and orient each of the virtual elements to generate a configuration of the virtual elements; and calculating a dose received by each virtual element in that different configuration. A method includes: generating virtual tiles that are located on a surface of the virtual representation; and simulating the radiation and calculating a dose received by each of the virtual tiles. A method includes: accessing a representation that includes a virtual object representing the object and a virtual surface that encompasses the virtual object; calculating a phase space distribution of radiation delivered to the virtual surface; and using the phase space distribution to calculate a dose received by the virtual object.

The invention relates to a magnetic resonance imaging radiation therapy system with reduced interference to the therapeutic radiation. The system includes: a magnetic resonance imager (110) comprising a magnet (120) enclosing a bore (130); a radiation therapy device (140) configured to radiate, from multiple positions about a longitudinal axis (150) of the bore, a therapeutic beam (160) with respective radial beam paths towards the bore (130); a coldhead (170) positioned outside of the beam paths; and a thermally conducting cooling segment (180) in thermal connection with the coldhead (170). The cooling segment (180) is extending azimuthally about the longitudinal axis (150) of the bore. The cooling segment (180) is positioned to intersect with the beam paths, and a width (w)of the cooling segment is larger than a maximum width of the therapeutic beam (180). Preferably, attenuation of the therapeutic beam (160) by the cooling segment (180) is constant between the respective beam paths from different positions about the longitudinal axis (150) of the bore.

Respective target positions, into which elements of a radiation therapy machine are to be moved (e.g., prior to beginning treatment of a patient), are determined. A candidate path, which describes movements of the elements from respective initial positions to the respective target positions, is defined and accessed. The candidate path is evaluated to determine whether it would result in a collision between any of the elements. The candidate path is included in a set of candidate paths when the candidate path does not result in a collision between any of the elements. A value of a measure (e.g., a measure of efficiency), used for ranking each candidate path in the set of candidate paths, is determined. A path is selected from the set of candidate paths based on the ranking.

A heating arrangement for a cooking appliance, such as a toaster or oven. Heating elements can be exposed in a cavity of the appliance and can have a shield that permits infrared energy to pass but blocks microwaves and/or provides physical support for internal components such as a quartz tube or resistance element. The shield can be grounded to one or more cavity walls by grounding elements that engage with the shield and a portion of the cavity wall. The heating element can emit a greater amount of infrared radiation in one direction than an opposite direction, e.g., due to a convex or other shape of the resistance element. Sets of heating elements can be controlled so that a second element begins to emit visible light at a same time that a first element stops emitting visible light. Convection air can be directed at one or more heating elements, which diffuse the air flow or otherwise prevent flow of air directly to food in the cavity.

A radiography system executes at least one of the following: prohibiting fluoroscopy and permitting still image capturing and continuous still image capturing in accordance with switching of a communication mode from the wired communication to the wireless communication; limiting a frame rate during the continuous still image capturing to a predetermined value or less; and disabling an auto exposure control function, which transmits an irradiation stop signal for stopping irradiation with radiation via a radiation irradiation device at a point in time at which a cumulative irradiation dose with which a radiography apparatus is irradiated reaches an appropriate amount.
