The invention relates to a method for the determination of the crosslinking degree of a polymer (1) in a sample (2), the method comprising the following steps: - exposing the polymer (1) to near infrared radiation (3) originating from a radiation source (4), in particular such that the near infrared radiation (3) passes the polymer (1) at least once, - determining a set of measurement values being indicative of the absorption of the near infrared radiation (3) by the polymer (1) in a measurement wavelength range, wherein the wavelength range is between 800 nm and 3000 nm, - feeding the set of measurement values to a data model, which data model is based on a multiplicity of sets of reference values, - obtaining, from the data model, an output value being indicative of the crosslinking degree of the polymer (1).
