    An image processing apparatus includes at least one processor that is configured to: acquire projection images obtained by imaging a subject with radiation at a plurality of angles; reconstruct a plurality of tomographic images from the acquired projection images; detect a structure of interest from the plurality of reconstructed tomographic images; derive a region of the projection image corresponding to the detected structure of interest; and determine, by using the derived region of the projection image, whether or not the tomographic image from which the structure of interest is detected is a tomographic image corresponding to a focal plane of the structure of interest.

The control unit supplies a selection signal to a drive circuit group composed of two or more drive circuits, among a plurality of drive circuits, that drive detection pixels, in order to set, prior to irradiation, two or more detection pixels for measuring the dose of radiation incident from a plurality of pixels during irradiation. The control unit causes each of the drive circuits included in the drive circuit group to select a row signal line to which the detection pixel is connected from a plurality of row signal lines, and supplies a drive signal for driving a pixel connected to the row signal line selected from a plurality of row signal lines to each drive circuit included in the drive circuit group during irradiation, thereby acquiring a signal for measuring the dose of radiation incident from each of the detection pixels.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

An optical arrangement provides optical paths for guiding radiation between the source and the output units and between the receiving units and the detectors. A switching arrangement controls the optical arrangement to selectively implement a plurality of measuring modes. Each measuring mode involves optical connection of the source to a corresponding output unit of the plurality of output units. The corresponding output unit is different for each measuring mode.

    A radiation reduction system that includes a computer and an imaging device configured to provide an image of a subject during a medical procedure using electromagnetic radiation. A variety of inputs are accepted from the medical practitioner using the computer such as subject body type, weight, and the like. These user inputs are used by the computer to determine operating settings that are transmitted to the imaging device either manually, a wired connection or wirelessly. The calculated settings are useful to generate one or more medically useful images of the subject while significantly reducing the overall radiation exposure to the subject and/or the personnel and/or medical practitioner.
