    Systems and methods are provided for generating microscale structures and/or nanoscale structures, surface profiles, and surface chemistries on medical devices. Embodiments disclosed herein utilize exposure of pulsed laser radiation on to a surface of a material by a pulsed laser. The pulsed laser according to embodiments disclosed herein is configured to emit at least one laser pulse toward the surface and thereby modify the profile of the surface in order to selectively promote or inhibit bioactivity and medical functionality of the material. By selectively promoting or inhibiting bioactivity of the material, enhanced biointegration at a cellular level may be achieved. For example, modifying the surface profile and/or surface chemistry of a first substrate material can improve adhesive and/or chemical bonding of the first material to a bioactive second coating material.

The gamma rays are generated by the neutrons incident on the inspection object. The neutron shield portion, the gamma ray shield portion, and the gamma ray detector are arranged in this order in alignment with each other in a lateral direction.

For this purpose, a method for creating an X-ray reconstruction by way of acquiring an X-ray recording of an object and creating a first reconstruction from the X-ray recording is provided. Within the first reconstruction, an uncertainty region is determined. In addition, an ultrasound recording restricted to a part of the object that corresponds to the uncertainty region is acquired. Further, the data of the first reconstruction is combined with data of the ultrasound recording to create a second reconstruction.

    Electrical modulation provides treatment of brain tumors, such as glioblastoma. An electrical stimulus may be applied to the brain of a patient with a brain tumor (e.g., primary or metastatic brain tumor in upfront, adjuvant, or recurrent treatment setting) via bitemporal and/or unitemporal electrodes. The electrical modulation acts on brain tumor networks to slow tumor growth and increase survivability of the patient. The electrical modulation also transiently permits passage of therapeutics across the blood-brain barrier. The electrical modulation also sensitizes brain tumors to radiation therapy, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy.
